We have almost lived on our little farm in Kansas a year, yet we are still amazed at the wild, untamed beauty of this prairie land. Cami Grace is in awe of the wild flowers that have sprung up overnight. She loves to pick roadside bouquets for mommy.

It is officially spring now. The weather has finally warmed up enough for the wild flowers to bloom along our gravel road.

The threat of sudden frost is still imminent, so the local farmers have wisely left their fields unsown till the danger has past. The dry corn stalks alongside the vibrant wild flowers create a breathtaking juxtaposition.

I am reminded by these fragrant spring blooms that all my worries and cares are in the hands of a wonderful creator God.

“Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.”  —Matthew 6:25-34

When I get discouraged thinking about our crazy kitchen situation and worried that we will never finish the farmhouse renovation, the Lord sends me gentle reminders that He is in control.

He has blessed us with so many things to be thankful for. I want to dwell on those things. Let’s give Him a prayer of thanks today for our beautiful free country, our families, and our homes.
